‘ELSEWHERE IN INDIA’ is a video game adventure set in a far future world where cultural heritage has neared extinction.

Follow Meenakshi, a 'cultural cyborg' created for the sole purpose of preserving culture, on an epic journey to piece together a tapestry of South Asian multicultural heritage.

Elsewhere in India provokes new ideas at the intersection of AI and Cultural Good.

Antariksha Studio received an Epic Megagrant during the pandemic for its ongoing video game Antara. These first prototypes of 'Elsewhere in India' were built from a portion of that grant to represent our vision for a post-cyberpunk India as a multiplayer game on the Fortnite Engine, and more specifically to demonstrate creative and diverse possibilities for the genre. We are presently working on a vertical slice for this ambitious heritage adventure, and seeking further grants that let us continue our independent world building.

We use video games to speculate on potential outcomes for India's society, culture and environment in the future. The protagonists use salvaged pieces of cultural heritage found in lost museums and digital archives to reimagine Indian culture in 2079 AD.

Post-Cyberpunk
Music Machines

To showcase the value of game engines as tools for NextGen ethnomusicology, we have taken on the challenge of creating authentic, high quality, 3D game assets representing the musical diversity of South Asia. These models could eventually function as digital twins for live, virtual performance.

Our work with museums and archives goes towards building authentic yet playful representation for the diverse subcultures on the Indian subcontinent within video games, thereby creating worlds that exist at the intersection of documentary and fiction

Along the way, Meenakshi teams up with Murthovic, an eccentric sound designer and Thiruda, a remix artist as they create hope through harmony in a world thats rebuilding itself.
